Bringing Srila Prabhupada's original books to every language on Earth. AI-assisted first-pass translation with mandatory human review by qualified devotee scholars.
Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu predicted that the holy name would be heard in every town and village of the world. Srila Prabhupada made this possible in English. Now, with modern AI translation technology guided by devotee scholars, we can extend this to every major language — not just the name, but the complete philosophical library.
This is not machine translation slapped onto sacred text. Every translation goes through AI first-pass, then rigorous human review by native-speaking devotees who understand both the language and the philosophy. The AI saves months of initial drafting; the human ensures fidelity to the original meaning.
Five stages from English source to published translation.
Extract clean English source text from the archive. Separate verse, synonyms, translation, and purport into structured segments. Each segment is translated independently to preserve context.
Best available LLM (Claude, Gemini, or GPT-4) translates each segment with a carefully crafted prompt that includes: the Sanskrit original, the English translation, key terminology glossary, and instructions to preserve philosophical precision over literary polish.
Native-speaking devotees review every sentence. They check: philosophical accuracy (is the meaning preserved?), terminology consistency (are key Sanskrit terms handled correctly?), natural language flow (does it read well?), and cultural appropriateness. Reviewers have final authority over every word.
Automated checks: terminology consistency across chapters, completeness verification (nothing missing), format validation, cross-reference integrity. Second reviewer spot-checks 10% of passages for quality.
Verified translations published to GitHub, prabhupada.io, and available for download in markdown, PDF, and EPUB. Each translation carries provenance metadata: source version, AI model used, reviewer identity, review date.
Starting with the languages that reach the most people and have the strongest devotee reviewer networks.
The Bhagavad-gita (700 verses) is the first book for each language — small enough to complete quickly, important enough to validate the pipeline, and universally recognized. Once the BG is verified for a language, we proceed to Srimad-Bhagavatam.
